my effort to pay it forward
In a moment that felt like the end, a career-limiting foot injury abruptly closed the chapter on my life as a professional dancer. Stranded in the unfamiliar territory of transition, I grappled with fear, uncertainty, and a sense of disconnect from the world I loved.
As fate would have it, the studio I poured a decade of passion into faced a new chapter with the owner's retirement. At 30, I found myself at the crossroads of taking over the reins, navigating an overwhelming world of commercial leases, building issues, and the unexpected burden of a studio's destiny on my shoulders.
The initial excitement of a shiny new studio soon gave way to the harsh realities of ownership. Overhead, a troublesome landlord, and the weight of being the boss pressed down, transforming my dream into a daunting struggle. Late nights cleaning the studio became moments of clarity – a promise to myself that this journey would serve a purpose: to guide others through the challenges I faced.
From those early struggles, I've gone on to build and own three more studio locations. Each endeavor taught me invaluable lessons, leading me to a destination of low-stress studio ownership I once yearned for. Now, armed with experience, I'm dedicated to helping studio owners and creative professionals nationwide find their way to a balanced work/life dynamic.
Having tasted the bitterness of stress and burnout as a creative, I've also savored the sweetness of happiness and success. With two decades of experience spanning the highs and lows of a creative career, I've discovered my true purpose: guiding others in their creative journeys. Reflecting on my past, I wish for the mentor I never had – someone with whom I could openly discuss the challenges both on and off the floor.
AWCS is my commitment to pay it forward,
offering support to fellow creatives
on their unique paths. Whether you're
navigating a career transition or seeking
balance in your creative endeavors,
I'm here to walk with you.

the steps
As a lifelong dancer, I've been immersed in the world of professional dance since the age of 17. Originally from Milwaukee, I took my passion to Pittsburgh in 2008 to pursue a competitive partnership. Having personally navigated the challenges of the dance industry, I now find fulfillment in sharing my journey. My motivation is simple: to be the mentor and coach I wished for during my early years. This is my way of giving back to an industry that has shaped me into who I am today.
